The Blackwing 602 is ideal for writing. Great for students and those that take a lot of notes as it helps prevent hand fatigue. It is smoother than a typical writing pencil and resembles a B lead. This is the pencil that is closest to the original Eberhard Faber Blackwing. In tribute, it reprises the slogan “Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed” on the barrel. The Blackwing 602 has a pearlescent gray finish with a gold band and pink eraser.

John Steinbeck's Favorite Pencil! Steinbeck was known for his ritual of starting each writing session by sharpening 24 Blackwing pencils and placing them in a pencil cup. He would write with one until it began to dull, then place it in an identical empty pot and take another until he had worked through all 24.
